Drug Trafficker Sentenced to Prison

Edward Diaz was sentenced to 25 years in prison with a 25-year minimum/mandatory for Trafficking in Fentanyl and 25 years in prison with a 15-year minimum/mandatory for Trafficking in Methamphetamine 200 grams or more.

Assistant State Attorney Olivia Ferrell, of the State Attorney’s Office Narcotics Unit, prosecuted the case.

The defendant was arrested in 2025 following a traffic stop off Alico Road in Lee County. The vehicle he was driving contained trafficking amounts of Fentanyl and methamphetamine inside. There was more than 890 grams of meth and more than 28 grams of Fentanyl in the vehicle. The defendant picked up the drugs in Tampa and brought them back to Lee County for distribution.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol were involved in the traffic stop. Law enforcement had received information from an anonymous informant, that drugs were being brought to Southwest Florida by the defendant.
