Pavel Naranjo was found guilty as charged of DUI Manslaughter and DUI While License, Suspended, Revoked or Canceled with Knowledge, following a three-day trial in Lee County. The jury returned the verdict in 22 minutes.
Assistant State Attorneys Mara Marzano and Andreas Gardiner, of the Homicide Unit, prosecuted the case.
The defendant was drunk and driving a motorcycle, and crashed, killing his passenger. He drove the motorcycle off the roadway on Summerlin Boulevard and down an embankment. The defendant was almost double the legal limit at the time his blood was tested at the hospital. The crash happened in 2017 in Fort Myers.
The Fort Myers Police Department investigated the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for Monday morning at 8:30 a.m.
