Fentanyl and Cocaine Trafficker Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison

Jesus Richard Gonzalez, of Fort Myers, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison this afternoon, for trafficking Fentanyl and cocaine in Lee County. He was sentenced as a Habitual Felony Offender (HFO).

Assistant State Attorney Olivia Ferrell, of the State Attorney’s Office Narcotics Unit, prosecuted the case. The Fort Myers Police Department Special Enforcement Division investigated the case.

The defendant was sentenced as follows:

Trafficking in Cocaine – 400 grams or more – Sentenced as an HFO to 30 years in prison with a 15-year minimum/mandatory.

Trafficking in Fentanyl – 28 grams or more – Sentenced as an HFO to 30 years in prison with a 25-year minimum/mandatory.

Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon – Sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Possession of Controlled Substance – Sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Possession of Paraphernalia- credit for time served

Possession of Controlled Substance – Sentenced to 5 years in prison.

All of the charges are to run concurrently.

On December 21, 2022, the Fort Myers Police Department Group Violence Intervention Division assisted the State of Florida Department of Corrections State Probation with a probationer check at the defendant’s residence. Drugs were seen inside of the home and a search warrant was served and executed.

Trafficking amounts of Fentanyl, 6 kilos, and 2 kilos of cocaine were located as well as two guns, ammunition, and extensive amounts of drug paraphernalia.
