Today the Charlotte County Grand Jury, convened by State Attorney Amira Fox, returned two indictments, in unrelated cases, involving distributing Fentanyl causing death.
Scott Kyle Wright has been indicted for First Degree Murder-Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl, a Capital Felony, Sale or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device.
The indictment reads in part that between April 5, 2024, and April 6, 2024, in Charlotte County, the defendant did unlawfully, kill the victim, by the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, to wit, fentanyl, and the said controlled substance, or mixture thereof, caused or was a substantial factor in producing the death of the victim.
Assistant State Attorneys Scott Patterson and Tracy Detzel are prosecuting the case.
The second indictment is against Robert Anthony Doxen for First Degree Murder-Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl, a Capital Felony, Sale or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device.
The indictment reads in part that on or about July 29, 2023, in Charlotte County, the defendant did unlawfully, kill the victim, by the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, to wit, fentanyl and the said controlled substance caused or was a substantial factor in producing the death of the victim.
Assistant State Attorney Scott Patterson will be prosecuting this case.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Bill Prummell, investigated both cases. Their dedicated work led to the evidence presented to the Grand Jury today.
