State Attorney Amira Fox convened the Collier County Grand Jury this week and they have returned two indictments. The first indictment is against Brian Edward Jessup, for one count of First-Degree Murder – Unlawful Distribution of Fentanyl, a capital felony and Sale or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a second-degree felony.
The indictment alleges in part, that on or about May 11, 2024, the defendant did unlawfully, kill the victim, by the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, to wit, Fentanyl, or any mixture containing such substance, and the said controlled substance, or any mixture thereof, is proven to have caused or is proven to have been a substantial factor in producing the death of the victim.
In a second, unrelated case, the Collier County Grand Jury, returned an indictment against Kio’Maris De’Jai Moore, for one count of First-Degree Murder – Unlawful Distribution of Fentanyl, a capital felony.
The indictment alleges in part, that between and including August 25, 2023 and August 27, 2023, in Collier County did unlawfully kill and murder the victim, by the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, to wit: Fentanyl, or mixture containing any such substance and the said controlled substance, or any mixture thereof, is proven to have caused or is proven to have been a substantial factor in producing, the death of the victim.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation into these crimes. Assistant State Attorneys Sarah Woodward and Brock Frazier are prosecuting the cases.
“Anyone who is involved with dealing, selling, or providing illegal narcotics that we can prove caused the death of another, will be prosecuted and indicted for First-Degree Murder. Let me stress this again, if you choose to go down this path and somebody dies, you are risking a First-Degree Murder charge,” said State Attorney Amira Fox.
