Alphonso Loggins was found guilty as charged of Burglary of a Dwelling and Petit Theft. The
jury returned the guilty verdict this afternoon, following a two-day trial in Lee County.
In July 2019, the victim, who lives out of state, was looking at the surveillance camera feed for
his Fort Myers home. He saw that the front door was open. The victim then reviewed the saved
digital footage and saw three individuals wearing masks and gloves stealing items from his
home. The Fort Myers Police Department investigated the crime.
Video surveillance footage from an apartment complex one street over from the crime scene,
showed three men, including Loggins, leaving his apartment going towards the victim’s home. It
then showed him coming back with the stolen items. A large hockey bag full of equipment and a
custom jersey bearing the victim’s name were stolen. Loggins was the only one who could be
positively identified and did not have an alibi.
The defendant faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on April 13th.
Assistant State Attorney Robert Rodriguez prosecuted the case.
