Guilty as Charged in Drug Case

Gabriel Garza, 37, of Immokalee, was found guilty as charged of Trafficking in Cocaine – 28 Grams or More, Possession of Cannabis – Over 20 grams, and Possession of Paraphernalia. The jury returned the guilty verdict this afternoon, following a two-day trial in Collier County.

On November 5, 2020, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Bureau, including members of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Bureau, served a search warrant on
a residence in Immokalee. Garza was in the home at the time. During the search, cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were found inside the home.

An exterior search of the residence revealed a sock hidden under the air conditioner unit which contained numerous plastic baggies of cocaine. The cocaine found in the sock had a net weight of
approximately 45 grams. Garza was then arrested.

Assistant State Attorney Brock Frazier and Assistant State Attorney Lawrence Raab prosecuted the case. Sentencing is scheduled for October 12, 2022.
