Guilty as Charged in Drug Case

Sentencing is scheduled for April 29, 2024, for Anthony Gregory Tyson, after being convicted of Sale or Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 ft. of a School and Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver within 1,000 ft. of a School.

Assistant State Attorney Bryce Becker prosecuted the two-day trial in Lee County.

The defendant was arrested following an undercover operation by the Fort Myers Police Department Vice/Narcotics Unit in August and September 2022. During the operation, Tyson, who goes by the street name “Tub,” was seen by detectives standing in the street, in the area of Henderson Avenue and Thomas Street.

He agreed to sell “Molly,” also known as MDMA, to an undercover detective. The defendant then walked away and came back with two small plastic baggies. The contents tested positive for Dimethylpentylone, which is a different illegal drug.
