Luis Daniel Velez-Rivera, 38, of Lehigh Acres, was found guilty as charged with Sexual Battery Under Specified Circumstances (While Helpless). The jury returned the
guilty verdict Wednesday evening.
The crime happened in August 2020 when the defendant sexually battered the victim at a home in Lehigh Acres. The victim had been drinking and was in and out of consciousness when she was attacked. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was notified and began an investigation after the victim went to a hospital for treatment, following the crime.
Assistant State Attorney Erin Hughes and Assistant State Attorney Anastasia Snetkova prosecuted the case. Sentencing is scheduled for March 21st.
