Guilty as Charged in Store Robbery Case

Frederick Lee Roberts, 45, of Fort Myers, was found guilty as charged of Robbery with a Weapon and Resisting an Officer without Violence. He was found guilty following a two-day trial in Lee County.

In December 2021, Roberts took some lottery tickets to get checked for possible winners at a convenience store in Fort Myers. When the clerk told him none were winners, he went behind the
counter and hit her. He then grabbed a small ladder and threw it at her. She ran from behind the counter and Roberts began putting lottery tickets and cigars in a bag. The victim then locked the front door to the store. The defendant then came from behind the counter and threw a garbage can at her. He was still locked in the store when the Fort Myers Police Department responded to the scene.

Assistant State Attorney Bryce Becker and Lee County Felony Chief, Assistant State Attorney Tyler Lovejoy prosecuted the case.
