Guilty as Charged: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Christopher Gonzalez was found guilty as charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon following a trial in Collier County. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

In August 2018, Gonzalez pointed the gun at a woman inside a home causing her to scream. There were others in the home that heard her scream and responded, so Gonzalez ran away and dropped the gun on the lawn. Deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found the weapon and apprehended the defendant nearby in the neighborhood.

At a previous trial Gonzalez was convicted on one count of Battery and sentenced to one year in jail for a physical altercation with the same woman on the same day.

A sentencing date has not been set yet. Assistant State Attorney Garrett Cutler prosecuted the case.
