Guilty of DUI Manslaughter

Kiereek Seymour, 29, was found guilty as charged of DUI Manslaughter following an 11 day trial in Collier County.

The crime happened in May 2014 when the defendant crashed his car into the side of another car at the intersection of Lakewood and Davis Boulevards in East Naples. It happened at about four in the morning on a Sunday. The woman he hit was on her way to a store to buy items for a charity event. She died from her injuries at the hospital.

Seymour admitted to drinking one and a half beers to emergency responders at the scene. It was later determined he had a drug in his system and alcohol.

This trial was a re-trial from February due to a juror walking out of the jury room during deliberations. Seymour’s sentencing is set for June 26 and he faces up to 15 years in prison. He has another trial scheduled for July on an unrelated traffic charge including DUI.

Assistant State Attorney Mara Marzano of the Homicide Unit and Assistant State Attorney Sabsina Karimi handled the case.
