Guilty of Vehicular Homicide

Sentencing is set for October 17, 2022, for Marcus Demond Coleman. The 27-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident was found guilty of Vehicular Homicide and two counts of Reckless Driving Causing Serious Bodily Injury. The jury returned the verdict following a four-day trial in Collier County.

On May 17, 2017, in Collier County, Coleman crashed his car into a vehicle with three women inside. The crash killed the driver and injured the two passengers. The Florida Highway Patrol investigated. Coleman had marijuana and alcohol in his system when the crash occurred.

Assistant State Attorney Mara Marzano, of the Homicide Unit, and Assistant State Attorney Laura Mason prosecuted the case.
