Guilty Verdict in Cape Arcade Robbery

Mikael Alejandro Blanc Stewart was found guilty as charged of Fleeing to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer and two counts of Robbery with a Deadly Weapon for a robbery at an arcade in Cape Coral. He faces a mandatory life sentence as a Prison Releasee Reoffender (PRR) when he is sentenced, which is currently scheduled for November 23, 2026.

Assistant State Attorneys Melanie Sanders and Jacob Wetter prosecuted the case.

The defendant was already sentenced to life in prison in January on a violation of probation (VOP) for a different case, due to this crime.

The robbery happened in 2024. Evidence introduced at trial shows the defendant was the getaway driver following an armed robbery at the business. He drove around the arcade three times, before stopping to let his co-defendant out of the vehicle to rob the business. The co-defendant then jumped back in the car after the robbery and the defendant then drove off.

Cape Coral Police arrived on scene in minutes and saw the vehicle victims had described to 911. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the defendant fled, veering off the road multiple times, going into oncoming traffic, running stop signs, and reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph, to avoid getting caught.

The defendant eventually crashed the vehicle and was arrested. The co-defendant in this case, Jailyn Tyreek Thomas, was sentenced in January.
