Hemeregildo Gonzalez Ramos has been convicted of two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation and all special findings, that there was sexual contact between the defendant and two child victims. The special findings are additional determinations made by a jury beyond a guilty verdict, to clarify elements of a crime. The jury returned the guilty verdict Wednesday evening, just after 6 p.m., following a two-day trial in Lee County.
Assistant State Attorney Janesha Beckford and Assistant State Attorney Francine Donnorummo, Special Victims Unit Chief, prosecuted the case.
The case involves two child victims who were molested by the defendant between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2018. The defendant molested the children when they were in a pool at a home in Lehigh Acres and also molested a victim inside the home.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the defendant after a child victim told an adult about what happened and that adult contacted law enforcement.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 24, 2025.
