“Lake Boyz” Gang Defendant Sentenced to Prison

Lee County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Kyle adjudicated guilty Jonathan Griffin- Brown, 24, of Fort Myers, and sentenced him to 10 years in prison followed by 13 years of probation for one count of Racketeering Conspiracy (RICO). Brown pled no contest as part of a plea agreement on the morning of his scheduled trial.  Brown is a member of the Lake Boyz gang as identified by the evidence collected in the investigation against the organization.

Brown was arrested during a round up of specific gang members in January 2017.  A key piece of the evidence identifying Brown as a member of the gang was an incident from March 9, 2016, wherein the Fort Myers Police Department intercepted Brown in a vehicle driven by fellow gang member, Imari Gray. Brown was in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle, and a .40 caliber pistol. He, and others in the vehicle, were wearing gloves and ski masks. In December 2018, a Lee County jury convicted Gray for criminal acts related to his association with the Lake Boyz.

There remains 12 Lake Boyz defendants pending prosecution. This case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Leena Marcos and J.D. Miller and Specially Appointed Assistant State Attorney Bob Lee.
