Today the Lee County Grand Jury indicted Antonio Thomas for First Degree Murder. Thomas is charged with murdering Phyllis A. Stein of Cape Coral on June 20, 2012. Mrs. Stein’s body was found in the parking lot of the Auto Zone Store on Bayshore Road in North Fort Myers.
The State Attorney’s Office had previously charged Thomas with 14 felonies including; 1 count of Attempted Kidnapping, 1 count of Attempted Carjacking, 2 counts of Carjacking, 3 counts of Kidnapping, 1 count of Attempted Sexual Battery, 1 count of Sexual Battery, 1 count of First Degree Burglary with Assault or Battery, 1 count of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, 1 count of Battery and 1 count of Attempted Felony Murder. This was all as a result of a crime spree that covered a 10 day period with 5 separate victims.
The State Attorney’s Office intends to ask the court to consolidate the existing charges with this First Degree Murder Indictment for trial.
