Life in Prison for Crimes Against a Child

Alfredo Castellanos Soto was sentenced to life in prison for Engaging in an Act that Constitutes Sexual Battery Upon or with a Child 12 Years of Age or Older but Younger than 18 Years of Age by a Person in Familial or Custodial Authority. He was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for Lewd or Lascivious Molestation and Lewd or Lascivious Conduct, to be served concurrently.

The defendant was convicted in March following a trial in Lee County. Assistant State Attorney Erin Hughes, of the State Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case.

The Cape Coral Police Department began an investigation in June 2022 after being contacted by a family member of the victim who reported a past-occurred sexual battery at a Cape Coral residence. Their investigation led to the arrest of the defendant who admitted sexual interaction with the child.
