Life in Prison for Murder

This morning, Victor Colon Jr., was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to life in prison as a Prison Releasee Reoffender for Second Degree Murder and Shooting
into an Occupied Vehicle.
He was found guilty on January 21st, following a trial in Lee County.

The crime involved a shooting in Lehigh Acres in 2020. The defendant drove his car, chasing down another car, in rush hour traffic. When the cars came to a stop, his co-defendant, Ricky Gaspar Ruiz, got out of the vehicle and shot the victim 16 times.

The defendants then fled and were captured in Hialeah by the U.S. Marshals. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation.

The co-defendant in this case, Ruiz, was sentenced to life in prison on February 1st.
