Jameslee Senatus, of Lehigh Acres, was sentenced to life in prison immediately after being convicted of Second Degree Murder with a Firearm. The jury returned the guilty verdict just before 8 p.m. Friday night, following a three-day jury trial in Lee County.
Assistant State Attorney Hamid Hunter, of the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit, prosecuted the case.
The crime happened in June 2020, in Lehigh Acres. Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at Irene Avenue South and 23rd Street Southwest. A man was located with a gunshot wound at the scene. He was rushed to a hospital but died from the injury.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, part of the Major Crimes Unit, began an investigation which led to the defendant being identified as the person who committed the crime. The defendant was located in Miami and brought back to Lee County.
