Life in Prison for Sex Crimes Involving a Child Victim

This afternoon, Luckner Alexis was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to life in prison on each of four counts of Familial or Custodial Sexual Battery. The sentences are concurrent. Alexis was found guilty in February following a jury trial in Lee County.

Assistant State Attorney Michael Curley and Assistant State Attorney Taryn Vaughn, of the Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case.

In May 2019, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about a past occurred sexual battery on a child. An investigation began and a search warrant was executed at a Lee County residence.

Items were recovered and sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for DNA testing. That evidence, along with other information obtained by law enforcement, led to a warrant being issued for the defendant. He was located and arrested in Miami, in October 2019, and brought back to Lee County to face charges.
