Matthew Jacob Elston, 32, of Port Charlotte, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 5 and a half years in prison for Unlawful Sexual Activity with Certain Minors. He was also designated a Sexual Offender. His prison sentence will be followed by 5 years of sex offender probation.
In October 2022, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in reference to a sexual assault. Information was reported that the defendant had committed a sexual act on a victim under 18. The investigation determined that a sexual assault had occurred and Elston was arrested.
Assistant State Attorney Alexa Lipham prosecuted the case.
