Prison Sentence for Drug Dealer

Robert Duane Boyett, 53, was found guilty as charged with Sale or Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance following a trial in Lee County. The jury deliberated for 45 minutes and came back just before 7 p.m. last night with the guilty verdict.

Boyett had a trial last year in this same case for a charge of Possession of a Place for the Sale or Delivery of Narcotics or Illegal Substances and was found guilty.

Today he was sentenced to ten years in prison followed by three years of probation for all three of the charges.

In August 2017 the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted several controlled drug buys from the defendant’s home in North Fort Myers through confidential informants.

A search warrant was executed at Boyett’s home. There were large quantities and more than thirty types of drugs found in a safe in the bedroom. Some of the drugs included; testosterone, heroin, alprazolam, methamphetamine, clonazepam, ecstasy, marijuana, oxycontin and morphine. He was selling the drugs out of his home off Slater Road.

Assistant State Attorney Olivia Ferrell and Felony Division Chief Tyler Lovejoy handled the case.
