Prison Sentence for Manslaughter

Today defendant Trayviouse Jermain Taylor pled guilty to his crime as his trial was underway.
Taylor was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison for one count of Manslaughter.

Taylor was 17 at the time of the homicide and was direct filed as an adult by the State Attorney’s
Office to face charges as an adult and not a juvenile.

In September 2017, Taylor shot a 20-year-old man at a motel in Fort Myers. The Fort Myers
Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms, and Explosives, (ATF), investigated the case.

Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller and Assistant State Attorney Mara Marzano handled the
prosecution.
