Prison Sentence for Murder

Odessey Clarence Lester, 36, of Fort Myers, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for crimes that led to the death of a woman in Lehigh Acres. He was adjudicated guilty
of Second Degree Murder, Kidnapping, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, First Degree Arson of a Dwelling, and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence.

On February 8, 2019, law enforcement and fire rescue teams responded to a call of a house fire in Lehigh Acres. A woman was found dead in a bathtub, but the scene appeared suspicious.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office launched a detailed investigation and determined the defendant beat the victim prior to setting the fire, which was an effort to destroy evidence of his crimes.

Assistant State Attorneys Natalie Savino and Jennifer Royal prosecuted the case.
