Prison Sentence for Murder

Alexander Evans has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a murder outside of a popular nightclub in Naples. He was adjudicated guilty of Second Degree Murder with a Firearm, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Battery on a Person 65 or Older.

The crime happened on October 8, 2022. There was a disturbance between two groups of people inside of the club, which is located at an entertainment and shopping complex on Tamiami Trail. The argument turned violent when the defendant physically came at members of the other party. One of the people struck by the defendant was a person over the age of 65.

Security personnel intervened and attempted to escort both groups off the property. The physical altercation continued into the parking lot and that is when the suspect pulled a gun out of his waistband. He first pointed it at the security staff. He then shot the victim, after the victim fell to the ground during the altercation. The defendant then fled on foot. The victim died at the scene.

The defendant left his credit card on the table inside the club to pay his tab which led to his identification.

After fleeing the scene, the defendant eventually made his way to an airport and took a flight to Europe. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Days later, he took another flight back to Florida. He was arrested at the Fort Lauderdale Airport, by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, just after the flight landed.

As part of his sentence the defendant was also ordered to pay $9,866 for the cost of the investigation to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and pay court costs and the cost of prosecution.

Assistant State Attorney Sarah Woodward prosecuted the case.
