Prison Sentence in Drug Case

Steven Sanchez was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 29.7 months in prison, immediately after being convicted of Possession of Cannabis – Over 20 Grams and
Possession of Paraphernalia. The jury returned the guilty verdict just after 5 p.m. last night, following a one-day trial in Collier County.

The defendant was pulled over for speeding on June 20, 2023, on Santa Barbara Blvd. in Naples. The Collier County Sheriff’s Deputy who initiated the traffic stop, smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The defendant admitted to having a bag of marijuana in the center console and showed it to the deputy.

The bag contained 23.4 grams of marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed a second bag in the center console containing drug paraphernalia. The defendant was then arrested.

Assistant State Attorney Sarah Woodward prosecuted the case.
