Albert Shane Siebert was adjudicated guilty of Second-Degree Grand Theft, Aggravated Stalking, Violation of the Wiretap Statute, Installing a Tracking Device without Consent, and Domestic Violence Battery. The defendant pled no contest to the charges.
The defendant was sentenced, in total, to five years in prison, to be followed by 10 years of probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $47,103 to Urban Search and Rescue, which he has paid in full.
The defendant was a battalion chief at Estero Fire and Rescue as well as the program manager for Southwest Florida Urban Search and Rescue. In that role he used credit cards to make personal purchases.
When the case was investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), they discovered he used the credit cards to make purchases such as tracking devices and cameras and then utilized those items for stalking his ex-wife.
FDLE also discovered non-consensual audio and video recordings of the defendant’s ex-wife. During the course of the investigation FDLE also discovered an incident of domestic violence.
Economic Crime Unit (ECU) Chief J.D. Miller and ECU Assistant State Attorney Michael Curley prosecuted the case.
