Prison Sentence in Hostage Case

Leo Danni Feliz was adjudicated guilty and sentenced for a crime that involved holding three people hostage inside a Lehigh Acres home, in June 2022.

He was sentenced as follows on each count:

Child Abuse with a Firearm – two counts- 15 years in prison (maximum sentence) on each count
Violation of an Injunction for Protection Against Domestic Violence – 364 days in jail (maximum sentence)
False Imprisonment with a Firearm – 15 years in prison (maximum sentence)
Shooting at/within or into a Dwelling/Building – 15 years in prison (maximum sentence)
First Degree Burglary with Assault or Battery while Armed – 20 years in prison, followed by 15 years of
probation
Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm – 20 years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation

The sentences are to be served concurrently. Assistant State Attorney Marilla Shoemaker prosecuted the case.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crime after responding to a report of a kidnapping. Deputies arrived at the home to find a window broken and the defendant yelling from inside. The defendant had forced his way inside the home and used zip ties and duct tape to bound two children and one adult. He also threatened to kill the adult victim.

Deputies were able to get everyone safely out of the home and took the defendant into custody.
