Prison Sentence in Murder Case

This morning, James Paul Lally, 52, of Fort Myers, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison for one count of Second Degree Murder. The defendant pled
guilty to the crime, waving all depositions, motions, and pre-trial hearings.

Lally murdered his girlfriend in February after she said she wanted him to move out of the Fort Myers home they lived in. He fled after the crime and was apprehended in Jacksonville. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation and brought the defendant back to Lee County.

Today’s plea agreement was at the request of the victim’s mother who asked for early resolution of the case.
