Prison Sentence for Crimes Against a Child

Today, Johan Alexander Munoz Fuentes, 19, of Cape Coral, was adjudicated guilty of Lewd or Lascivious Battery, Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor, and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of Sex Offender Probation. He was also designated a Sexual Offender.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Fort Myers, in September 2021, about a past occurred sex offense. The victim’s mother had seen a concerning text on her daughter’s phone and responded as the victim. The defendant replied and eventually sent nude photos of himself, so she contacted law enforcement.

During the initial phase of the investigation, it was determined the crime took place at a home in Cape Coral, so the case was turned over to the Cape Coral Police Department. Their investigation led to the arrest of the defendant.

Assistant State Attorney Christine Cummins, of the Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case.
