Child Molester Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison

This morning, Robert William Sanchez, 36, of Port Charlotte, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison, followed by lifetime Sex Offender Probation, for Lewd or Lascivious Molestation of a Child Less than 12 Years of Age. The defendant was also designated a Sexual Predator. The defendant pled guilty to the charges.

An investigation began in November 2020 when law enforcement in Ohio were contacted by the victim’s family. The child victim told a family member that she had been molested by the defendant in Charlotte County, before they moved out of state.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and launched an investigation. Deputies executed a search warrant at the defendant’s home and found forensic evidence on electronic devices that led to his arrest. The investigation determined the defendant molested the victim on more than one occasion.

Assistant State Attorney Michael Colombo, of the State Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case.
