Jessica Ann Gutzler, 42, of Punta Gorda, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation, for one count of Burglary with a
Battery.
In 2019, a person broke up with the defendant and went to stay at a friend’s house. The defendant went to the house to try to get to her ex and began banging on the front door. The homeowner, who was armed, answered the door, and the defendant shoved her way in.
There was a struggle and the defendant was shot and wounded. She was located near the home and taken into custody by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
