Wayne Robert Taylor was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 15 years in prison for Manslaughter and 15 years in prison for Robbery with a Firearm. The sentences are to be served consecutively, so he will serve 30 years. Taylor was found guilty in February following a trial in Lee County.
Taylor murdered a 23-year-old man in Fort Myers in 2019. The victim was shot while he was sitting in a truck in a parking lot of an apartment complex on Winkler Avenue. The victim died at the hospital. The Fort Myers Police Department investigated the murder.
State Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner prosecuted the case.
The co-defendant in this case, Troymel Barnes, was sentenced in September 2021, to 20 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation, for Second Degree Murder and Robbery with a Firearm.
