Sentencing in Manslaughter Case

Rudolph Jermaine Askew Jr., of Cape Coral, has been adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 60 years in prison for Manslaughter with a Weapon. He was sentenced as a Habitual Felony Offender. Askew was convicted in August, following a trial in Lee County.

Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner, of the State Attorney’s Office Homicide Unit, and Assistant State Attorney Natalie Savino prosecuted the case.

The crime happened in October 2020. A man was found dead, stabbed to death, laying on the driveway of a residence in North Fort Myers. Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and started an investigation.

The victim had been visiting the home, where he was attacked. Just hours after the crime, the defendant was identified as the perpetrator, located and arrested.
