Three Life Sentences in Murder Case

Cristian Edwin Dilan, 23, of Cape Coral, was sentenced to three life sentences in the case involving the murder of a woman in Bonita Springs. He was sentenced to life in prison
for Second-Degree Murder, as well as Robbery, and Burglary.

He was sentenced to 5 years in prison for Tampering with Physical Evidence and also for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle. The sentences are to be served concurrently. Dilan was found guilty as charged in July following a trial in Lee County.

The crimes happened on October 29, 2017. A woman was found dead inside a home that was on fire. The 34-year-old was found by firefighters, under a mattress, with numerous stab wounds. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded and began an investigation that led to the arrest of Dilan and a co-defendant, who is awaiting trial.

Assistant State Attorney Brenda Wade and Assistant State Attorney Leena Marcos prosecuted the case.
