Bar Shooting

Ortillo Castaneta Zapata, 54, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a 2016 shooting in an Immokalee bar.

Castaneta Zapata was at the bar when his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend (the victim) arrived at the bar. Witnesses reported that the defendant then left the bar momentarily, returned and walked up to the victim, shooting him several times with a revolver. The victim was shot in the stomach and arm. Luckily, he survived the shooting.

The defendant fled the bar on foot and was captured the next morning. He pled guilty to the charge of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm as part of a plea agreement Thursday afternoon. Assistant State Attorney Kiely Keesler handled the case.
