Cape Burglary

Moments before jury selection was concluded today in a Lee County courtroom, a defendant pled no contest to his charges. William Kristopher Geertse was adjudicated guilty of Burglary of an Occupied Conveyance and Grand Theft. The charges stem from an incident at a gas station in Cape Coral in 2016 where the victim’s purse was stolen from her vehicle while her 9-year-old son was inside the car. Geertse acted as a lookout while a co-defendant stole the purse. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison for his role in the crime. Assistant State Attorney Mary Anderson handled the case.

The co-defendant, Nathan Fatic, who actually took the purse out of the vehicle, was sentenced previously to 84 months in prison for Burglary of an Occupied Conveyance and Grand Theft. The sentence also was for combined charges from a separate case that resulted at the time of his arrest of; Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and Trafficking in Amphetamines. Assistant State Attorney Agnieszka Osowicka handled that case.
