Dustin Eli Robert Hall, 32, was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by 3 years of probation for a crash that killed a man in Hendry County. Hall was adjudicated guilty of one count of DUI Manslaughter and two counts of DUI with a Minor because he had a 13 and 8 year old in the car with him at the time of the crash. He was also adjudicated guilty of one count of Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. He received 1 year in prison for each of the counts involving a minor and 5 years in prison for the fourth charge. All prison time will be served concurrently.
On August 8, 2015 Hall was driving at a high rate of speed when he went through a stop sign slamming into the other vehicle Mr. Pastor Montpeller,74, was driving. Mr. Montpeller died at the scene.
When Hall completes his sentence he will have special conditions on his probation. His driver’s license will be permanently revoked. He will not be able to possess or consume any alcohol. He also may not enter any bars, taverns or lounges that serve alcohol. He can also not have any alcohol in any residence in which he resides. He also must pay a $2,000 fine and make restitution to the victim’s family.
The victim’s family worked with our office to come to this resolution. Assistant State Attorney Mara Marzano of the Traffic Homicide Division of the Homicide Unit and Assistant State Attorney Clark Cary handled the case.
