Henry Mitchell Savage III, 33, of Cape Coral was sentenced to 56.1 months in prison today after entering a plea earlier this week. Savage pled no contest to five counts of Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information, one count of Obtaining a Credit Card through Fraudulent Means, one count of Grand Theft, one count of Petit Theft (3rd or More), and one count of Trafficking in Counterfeit Credit Cards.
Savage was arrested in North Fort Myers in May with over 40 credit card numbers printed out which also included names and cvv codes. He used this information to create fraudulent credit cards and make online purchases for hotel stays and food.
He was originally arrested for one count of Obtaining a Credit Card through Fraudulent Means and two counts of Criminal Use of Personal Identification. After reviewing the case with the State Attorney’s Office Economic Crimes Unit, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crime Unit was able to continue their investigation leading to additional charges.
The investigation after his initial arrest allowed the State to add a charge of Trafficking in Counterfeit Credit Cards for Savage possessing between 15 and 49 credit card related documents that he was not authorized to have.
Savage’s crimes included victims who were local to the area, but also victims from across the country including Vermont, Arizona, and New Mexico, who had no connection to Southwest Florida.
