Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Requirements- Sentenced to Prison

Kenneth Swencki, of Charlotte County, was sentenced to 4 years and 9 months in prison for one count of Failure to Comply with Registration Requirements as a Registered Sex Offender. The defendant entered an open plea to the court. Defendants can plea straight to the judge for sentencing and forgo having a jury trial.

Swencki had moved in January 2017 but had not updated the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles with his new address. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office advised the defendant to report his new address to DHSMV but he did not.

Swencki is a registered sex offender after being adjudicated guilty in 2003 for a having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student while he was a teacher.
