Grand Jury Indictment: Wisner Desmaret

The State Attorney’s Office 20th Judicial Circuit convened the Lee County Grand Jury which indicted defendant Wisner Desmaret today for First Degree Murder for the murder of Fort Myers Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller.

Desmaret was also indicted for Attempted First Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer, Robbery, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting an Officer with Violence, Depriving an Officer of Means of Protection, Burglary of a Conveyance, and Grand Theft.

In Florida only a Grand Jury may charge First Degree Murder. First Degree Murder carries a minimum penalty of life in prison or the possibility of the death sentence. The defendant will have a first appearance tomorrow on the charges and will continue to be held without bond in the Lee County Jail. His arraignment is scheduled for August 20th.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Assistant State Attorney Amira Fox and Assistant State Attorneys Andreas Gardiner and Orion Wright of our Homicide Unit.
