Life in Prison

Chunsi William Vines, 29, will spend the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced today for raping a woman. He received life for one count of Kidnapping, 30 years for Sexual Battery by Threatening Use of Force or Violence and 5 years for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Vines found his victim by responding to an advertisement placed on Backpage.com, a search engine for free classified ads. In August 2015, Vines had her meet him at a home for sale in Cape Coral where he raped her and threatened to drown her.

In October, a Lee County jury convicted Vines on the charges following a two day trial. Assistant State Attorneys Michael Colombo Jr. and Jessica Horowitz of our Special Victims Unit prosecuted the case.
