Francisco Resendiz, 35, of Lehigh Acres, was sentenced to life in prison for Sexual Battery on a Child Under the Age of 12, and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation on a Child Under 12 years of Age. He is also now a designated Sexual Predator.
Assistant State Attorney Francine Donnorummo, Chief of our Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case in November 2016, with the jury finding Resendiz guilty as charged.
The crimes happened in 2009 when Resendiz was renting a room in the home where he had contact with the 8-year-old victim. The defendant abused her over the course of two years. His arrest came in 2014 after the victim disclosed what happened to her after she went to a doctor for a physical examination and refused to let the male doctor touch her.
The sentencing for Resendiz was delayed until today so he could be sentenced in Federal Court on Illegal Reentry After Deportation.
Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office worked closely with our SVU to put this case together.
