Murder Case

Sentencing is set for March 13th for Leroy Taylor Jr. after he was found guilty Friday following a six day trial for one count of Second Degree Murder for killing his father.

Taylor Jr., 64, killed 91-year-old Leroy Taylor Sr. in his Cape Coral home in 2012, with blunt force trauma to his head and chest. His son had been visiting his father, an Air Force veteran, from New York and flew back there after the crime was committed. The Cape Coral Police Department Major Crimes Unit provided great assistance in helping get the evidence needed to be able to prosecute this defendant.

Assistant State Attorney Hamid Hunter of our Homicide Unit is the prosecutor for the case. Taylor Jr. faces a maximum of life in prison.
