Justus Divine Pierce was sentenced to 20 years in prison today after being found guilty as charged of two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder and 15 years in prison for one count of Shooting At/Into a Building or an Occupied Vehicle. The sentences are to be served concurrently. Pierce was found guilty following a trial in Lee County in April.
The crime happened in April 2017. The defendant had been stalking two young men. One afternoon he drove by the men’s home off of Hancock Bridge Parkway in Cape Coral and both victims were outside. Pierce flashed a gun at them as he drove by. He then drove by a second time and pointed a gun at them. He then drove by a third time and fired several shots at them. One victim ran, another got in his car and drove away.
Pierce chased him throughout the city until the victim called 911 and police met up with him. Pierce was later apprehended.
