State Attorney’s Office Hosting Victims’ Rights Event

The State Attorney’s Office 20th Judicial Circuit is honored to be hosting the annual observance of National Victims’ Rights Week which culminates on Saturday, April 14th at Centennial Park in Fort Myers. The theme is “Expand the Circle: Reach All Victims.” The event is from 4 – 6 p.m. More than 20 other law enforcement and community agencies are partnering with the State Attorney’s Office to be part of the event with exhibition tables set up for the public to learn more about community resources that are available.

The event will begin with an introduction by Chief Assistant State Attorney Amira Fox and will include several guest speakers along with survivors of crime and victims’ families speaking. “It is important to give victims and their families a voice. National Victims’ Rights Week is a way to make sure they are not forgotten,” said Chief Assistant Fox.

That portion of the event will conclude with a release of butterflies. The public is invited to attend and all activities are free. There will be arts and crafts for children including teddy bears they can make and face painting.

Funding for this event was provided by a grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S Department of Justice. A copy of the event program is attached.
