State Attorney’s Office Investigation Leads to Arrest

The State Attorney’s Office arrested Osvaldo Almenares Castelon following an investigation by our office. Castelon, a witness in several cases, asked a local criminal defense attorney for money in exchange for not testifying in the State’s cases at trial which the attorney was handling.

The State Attorney’s Office launched an immediate investigation once informed by the defense attorney about the offer. A State Attorney’s Office investigator took the defendant into custody Wednesday and booked him into the Glades County jail.

Castelon was arrested on one count of Solicitation to Commit Tampering with a Witness which is a 2nd degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. He also was arrested on one count of Accessory After the Fact – Sale of a Controlled Substance which is a 3rd degree felony and punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
